All drivers of lorries over 3.5 tonnes or Passenger Carrying Vehicles (PCV) with 9 or more seats must complete 35 hours of periodic training every five years. Periodic training is delivered through training courses attended over the five-year period covered by the validity of their current CPC.
Training courses are typically 7 hours long, and courses must be approved by the Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training (JAUPT).
Goldstar Transport Training works in partnership with The NLTC (National Logistics Training Consortium) as an approved centre, and we offer a large range of CPC courses for drivers of HGV’s. The list of courses we offer is listed below:
- Vehicle Checks & Defects
- Economical Driving
- Company & Public Image
- Drivers Hours
- Health & Safety
- Licence, Weights & Dimensions
- Emergency First Aid at Work
- Emergency Aid
- Vulnerable Road Users
- Tiredness, Diet & Lifestyle
To maintain your Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC), which remains valid for 5 years, it is essential to complete 35 hours of training before your 5-year deadline. The expiration date for your CPC is indicated on your Driver Qualification card.
Drivers have flexibility in choosing when to take the training courses, as long as they are completed within the 5-year period before the CPC card expires.
When attending a course, please bring a form of photo ID, such as a passport or driving licence. We will require your driving licence to upload the completion of your 7-hour course onto the Government gateway and update your training record.
It is important to note that the same course may not be attended multiple times within the 5-year cycle. Keeping aware of completed courses will prevent duplication and ensure an accurate training record.
Discounts may be available for groups of 5 or more drivers.
