What to Expect

Our C+E Driver Training is fully comprehensive – You’ll be competent with:

• Daily walk-around checks
• Safe uncoupling/recoupling practices
• Defensive driving
• Positional planning for all junctions
• Reversing – using several different scenarios
• Fuel and efficient driving techniques – including the exhaust brake and cruise control
• Vehicle safety
• Familiarization within the area in which you will be taking your test
• Preparation for your test
• Any other aspects that require covering through your learning journey

We have a dedicated reversing area on-site where you can practice and improve your reversing skills. This area is approved by the DVSA, which means you’ll become completely comfortable with the test reversing procedures before your official examination. It’s also the place where you’ll take your off-road manoeuvring test, which needs to be completed before the on-road test.

Our training vehicles consist of modern Mercedes Actros models that are fully automatic, carefully selected to assist you in gaining your licence a quickly and easily. Each vehicle is equipped with three seats, accommodating two trainees and an instructor comfortably, ensuring comfort and safety during training.

Goldstar HGV training is carried out at our training base in Woolpit, Suffolk, utilizing DVSA driving test centres – Ipswich, Norwich, or Chelmsford.

Important Info

Before you can begin the training, it is important that you possess a provisional C+E license (and have completed the relevant medical requirements), have passed the Theory test, Hazard perception test, and MOD 2 CPC.
